The December 1996 instalment is the last update available for Encarta 96 Encyclopedia owners. The programme for maintaining an up-to-date encyclopedia continues, however, for people who upgrade to Encarta 98 Encyclopedia. Owners of Encarta 98 World English Edition receive at least 35 Yearbook articles and hundreds of new links to the World Wide Web FREE each month, for a total of 18 monthly instalments, providing current and in-depth information to supplement the content of Encarta Encyclopedia (take a tour now).

Be sure to complete the integration process after you've downloaded updates; this will ensure that you can display updates within your encyclopedia. After the download is complete, open Encarta Encyclopedia. On the Home screen, click Stay Current, and then click the Add New Months button in the Yearbook Builder screen. In the Add New Months screen, click Integrate.
